About

Hi,

My name is Rosalind Wright, I’m a 30 something mom, blogger, and dogfree enthusiast. If you’ve stumbled upon my blog and are wondering why I have a blog like this, this page is for you.

First and foremost, my being dogfree doesn’t mean that I want all dogs dead or support animal abuse. I don’t. I just am sick of a culture that prioritizes dogs over people and ignores some of the very problematic aspects of dog ownership. That’s mostly why I’m here, but you can read more about the reasons for the blog here.

My personal experience with dogs is a complicated one. I grew up in a family that loved dogs. We always had dogs, and my parents liked to play at being “dog rehabilitators”. They would take dogs that most at the time would consider dangerous and try to turn them into our family pets. That ended when I was attacked unprovoked by my parent’s rottweiler. Even being an attack victim, I faced a lot of backlash from dog lovers – from being blamed for my attack to people saying they wished I had died to neighbors insisting I “get over it” and harassing me with their dog.

Yet, it wasn’t until the last decade or so that the harassment and abuse from dog lovers became overwhelming. All because I simply didn’t like dogs and was attacked by one. Over the years, these harassing and silencing tactics has made me want to speak out against this current dog-centric culture. This blog is a result of that.

Whether you hate dogs or love dogs, I hope this blog is interesting for you and I hope that we can shift the culture to a more normal view of dog ownership.
